Why Shyne

I have always been passionate about human rights, dignity, and the way people are treated. Throughout my career in the federal government, serving as a Director of Training and Development and later as a Director of Culture and Engagement, my work has centered on ensuring people are treated with respect, fairness, and humanity. That value system is what ultimately drew me to Shyne.

Shyne’s mission stood out to me because it goes beyond awareness and focuses on long-term, meaningful impact. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery. It is exploitation in its purest form, and it exists not only globally, but here in the United States. I believe we all share a responsibility to confront it and to support solutions that truly help people rebuild their lives.

What makes Shyne unique is its focus on economic independence as a path to freedom. Survivors often face lasting financial harm long after exiting trafficking, including debt, damaged credit, and limited access to opportunity. Shyne addresses these barriers through survivor-led programming, business education, personalized coaching, and access to funding that empowers survivors to become entrepreneurs, leaders, and decision makers in their own lives.

I am proud to support Shyne because its work aligns deeply with my values. By investing in dignity, autonomy, and long-term economic stability, Shyne helps create real pathways out of exploitation and toward lasting freedom. This is the kind of impact that not only changes individual lives, but strengthens communities and affirms our shared humanity.
